In October 2024, several regulations were published in the Official Journal of the European Union amending Annex II, III and V of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 on maximum residue levels (MRLs) of pesticides in or on food and feed of plant and animal origin.
These include amongst others amendments regarding residues of fosetyl/phosphonates and thiacloprid:
- the amendments of MRLs for fosetyl, potassium phosphonates and disodium phosphonate according to Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/2619 apply from 29 April 2025.
Additionally, “fosetyl” is deleted from the residue definition so that the MRLs will be stated as “phosphonic acid and its salts, expressed as phosphonic acid”.
- the amendments of MRLs for thiacloprid according to Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/2711 apply from 12 May 2025
