The European Union establishes new maximum levels for inorganic arsenic in all types of fish (fish muscle meat), crustaceans, molluscs and cephalopods according to Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/915.

The new statutory maximum levels according to Regulation (EU) 2025/1891 will apply from 8 October 2025. Food lawfully placed on the market prior to the date of application may be sold until their date of minimum durability or use-by date.
